It is my opinion that articles on the purported health "benefits" of one beverage type or another are simply token gestures to justify these products in markets of people increasingly aware of the health effects of their dietary habits. However, in a capitalistic economy, even recognized adverse health effects will not trump these products' ability to generate tax revenue, so they'll continue to stay on the market along with tobacco, highly marbled meats, and chocolate cheesecake. none of us need the alcohol associated with wine, beer, spirits, and other beverages.
